Lindsay’s Story
Children often enter foster care with just the clothes on their backs. As a typical 14-year-old girl, Lindsay knew that clothes for teenage girls are often more than just a physical necessity; they become a form of camouflage able to communicate their identity and their sense of belonging in an often hostile world.  Lindsey asked herself the question, “What could I do to help girls my age who are in foster care?” Lindsay began to dream of a boutique of designer clothes, where girls in foster care could “shop” for name brand clothes from top designers. Her passion soon caught the attention of a company who offered to build the store. Offers of designer clothes started pouring in, and the national media picked up a feature on the local news. ABC World News, Geraldo. Good Morning America. Her Web site was soon getting thousands of hits, many inquiring how they could start a similar store in their community or offering to help.  Teens around the country have been inspired to make a difference in the lives of their peers in foster care.  One girl’s dream has touched the lives of countless teenagers in foster care.
